12 Most Effective Ways To Pass An Examination

HOW TO PASS ANY EXAMINATION WITHOUT HELP

1. DO NOT NEGLECT THE GOD’S FACTOR
Yes, this is the number one key on my list. For you to pass your examination, you need to build a close relationship with God. Prayer is very important because without it, there is no way you can be successful!.
2. MAKE PROPER USE OF THE SYLLABUS
Every examination body will provide a syllabus which includes the topics and sub-topics every candidates are required to cover. Read extensively on these topics, see it as an area of concentration. Questions do not come from heaven, they come from the syllabus. If you can cover all the topics in the syllabus, be rest assured of passing the examin

3. PREPARE A READING TIME-TABLE AND FOLLOW IT DULY
The first statement is quite easy, the second is where the problem lies. Almost all candidates will prepare a reading time-table but only few follow it properly. It is not compulsory to prepare a reading time-table, but it is necessary to have one and follow it. Why? It will help you to ensure you read when it is time for you to read.

4. READ FREQUENTLY AND SMARTLY
What do you want to write down during examination when you have nothing up there?. If you want to pass legitimately without any help, then you have to read frequently. The more you read, the more you know. The more you know, the higher your chances of passing your examination.
Reading 2hours everyday is more effective than reading 10hours once in a week. I have explained that in my article on “How to read effectively and understand easily“. To make your reading very easy, effective and efficient, I have come up with a list of articles that will help you, See them below.

5. READ THE RECOMMENDED TEXTBOOKS
Imagine a student reading a whole O’Level biology textbook to prepare for 300L Biology examination, what do you expect? Failure! Nothing more. Your choice of textbook determines whether you will pass or not. Make use of recommended textbooks. If you are preparing for WAEC/GCE/NECO/JAMB, you will see some lists of recommended textbooks in the syllabus.
If you are preparing for an examination that does not have officially recommended textbooks, ask those that have written and passed the examination in the past. You can also make use of search engines

6. SEEK HELP
You can’t do it alone, that is the basic fact. Try as much as possible to learn from others. Seek help from your teachers, friends that are academically sound or seniors in school. You can seek help on details about the examination, about recommended text or solutions on problems you are having with some subjects. Everybody has a weak point, so seek help on what you don’t know.

7. YOUR HANDWRITING IS VERY IMPORTANT
If you know you have a bad handwriting, make sure you work on it. This is very important in written examinations. Your marker have bulks of examination script to mark, so if he comes across one with a bad handwriting, what happens? He/she will mark you wrong even though you are right.
Reseraches even show that good handwriting gives a first impression of brilliance. When you have a good handwriting, the first thing your examiner thinks is “This boy/girl must be brilliant”. Seek help on your handwriting if you have a bad one.

8. KNOW YOUR EXAMINER
It is very important to understand your examiner. You have to know what they expect from you, what questions they will ask you, what answer they expect from you. This can be achieved also by research.

9. APPROACH THE QUESTION THE RIGHT WAY
The way you approach your question determines whether you will get your full mark, half mark or NOTHING!. It is very important to approach a question the right way, provide answers to questions the right way. Let me tell you something, if you write a correct answer with the wrong approach, you will lose marks. You should know you cannot approach a question the right way if you don’t understand the question. So, take your time to read the question more than once!.

10. MAKE USE OF PAST AND PRACTICE QUESTIONS
This is the only sure expo you need to blast your examination. You shouldn’t underestimate the power of past and practice questions when preparing for an examination. I call it the “QUESTION BANK”. You will not only get possible questions from your past and practice questions but also discover the hot topics and how the questions will be set.

11. WORK ON YOUR TIMING
Imagine a situation where you enter your examination hall, you sit down for the examination and the question paper was given to you. On the sight of the questions, you were so happy because everything you read came out and you know the answers to ALL the questions. After some minutes, you were all told to submit when you have not even answered up to half of the question. How will you feel? Disappointed, isn’t it? That is why you need to work on your time.
If you are given 50minutes for 50questions,you should know you must know spend more than 1minute on each question.
If you follow these tips, you won’t need to be bothered about the questions
